Health authorities reported that, as of Press-Banner press time Wednesday, May 6, no swine flu cases had been confirmed in Santa Cruz County.
So far, samples from 144 possible cases of swine flu, or H1N1, had been forwarded for testing to a regional laboratory in Santa Clara County. Results for the most recent cases may not be known for up to seven days, officials said.
Of confirmed cases in the U.S., nearly all have been mild, and the county Health Services Agency continues to advise those with flu-like symptoms stay at home, rest and eat and drink normally. Only if symptoms become severe should a patient consult his or her doctor, officials said.
