SLV softball out-dueled by Aptos
Aptos High dealt the San Lorenzo Valley softball team its first league loss of the season on April 30. The game was tied 1-1 when an Aptos player was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a fielder’s choice, stole third and then scored on a wild pitch. The teams split the season series and are tied for first with 8-1 league records.
Bethany softball finishes fourth
The Bethany University softball team finished fourth in the California Pacific Conference with a 9-11 record. Jessica Cantu led the team with a 0.365 batting average, and Danielle Gomez led the team with 17 RBIs. Cantu also went 5-8 on the mound, posting a team-best 3.29 ERA.
Track and field finals Saturday
The SCCAL track and field league finals begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at San Lorenzo Valley High. The Scotts Valley boy’s team enters the finals as the top seed but will be seriously challenged by defending champion Aptos High.
SLV lacrosse finishes with winning record
The SLV lacrosse team won four of its final five games to finish the season with a 6-5 record.
