Services will be held in Scotts Valley at a later date for Ray Lovell who died in Tahoe City. He was 82.
Born in San Francisco, Mr. Lovell lived in Scotts Valley for many years and raised his daughter there. He was preceded in death by his former wife Beverley Lovell in 2000.
Due to their daughter’s talents in gymnastics, the couple founded the Santa Cruz Gymnastics Club which enabled many young girls to compete on a national level.
In addition, Mr. Lovell worked in the construction industry for many years. After he retired he made his home in Lake Tahoe, Calif. He enjoyed to ski, the great outdoors and the alpine lifestyle.
Mr. Lovell was known as a patient and enthusiastic teacher on the slopes, but one of his greatest joys was teaching his daughter and many years later, his grandson to ski.
He is survived by his daughter Dana Lovell and his grandson Jack Corvin of Mill Valley and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. His son-in-law, Stuart Corvin was a friend who made it possible to live out his final years in his home by the lake.
