As the popularity of wine has increased over the past decade, grocery stores both large and small have responded by providing more extensive wine sections. The wine section is no longer twenty choices on one rack; most grocery stores now have an entire aisle of the store dedicated to wine, while even Safeway has a higher-end wine section.

Local soccer team beats SC stars

The Scotts Valley Police Activities League Midget team concluded its spectacular playoff campaign with a 40-22 victory over the No. 2-seeded Milpitas Knights to capture the league championship.

Lana Jane Cellitti was born to Maren Lilly and William MacMillan Cellitti of Boulder Creek at 7:03 p.m. Sept. 18, 2011, at Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center in Santa Cruz. She weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces.

This was an unusual summer in San Lorenzo Valley, with respect to weather, especially if you consider how few tomatoes ripened in people’s backyards. Usually it’s hot and dry — drought conditions, to be exact.
