The weather has been mild, and fishing continues to be fair for both freshwater and saltwater fish. The ocean has drawn most of the local interest, with albacore, halibut and rockfish. Freshwater spots are producing some action on bass and sunfish.
It’s always exciting for me to see the first fall colors of the season. We may not have a show like they do in the hardwood forests of the East Coast, but we’re still barbecuing and they’re surely not.
North county artists, including those in the San Lorenzo Valley, Bonny Doon and Scotts Valley, will open their studios to curious art seekers this weekend, Oct. 3 and 4, as part of the annual Open Studious Art Tour put on by the Cultural Council of Santa Cruz.
