The goal of the Open Studios Art Tour is to get artists and art fans together. All across Santa CruzCounty, artists open their studios and their supporters go on tour. The public visits the studios and meet the artists. The visitors get to see how the artist does his or her work and can buy art directly from the source.

Award.  The honor is presented annually to students who have overcome great obstacles during their high school experience, in order to graduate and pursue bright futures.

Felton Celebrates 150

The town of Felton is 150 years old, and townsfolk are gearing up to throw a grand anniversary bash. The town party will include historical presentations of Felton's early days, which will be on display at Felton Community Hall and the Felton Fire Station, 4 bands, dancing, various other entertainment and of course, lots of local food and drink, shopping, kids events, crafts and more.

Adding Fragrant Plants to the Garden

It was an especially fragrant bouquet of roses on my dining table this week that got me thinking about what an incredible thing our sense of smell is. It’s the only sense that has a direct connection to our brains. We can detect at least a trillion distinct scents. Our scent cells are renewed every 30 to 60 days. Some of the most pleasurable scents, according to recent research, include vanilla, some orange scents, cinnamon, crayons and cookies. I don’t have any crayon or cookie scented flowers but wouldn’t that be a great addition in the garden?
