Mercedes Molloy, an up-and-coming 15-year-old artist and Scotts Valley resident, is giving back to her community through her artwork.

The going has been slow for the nascent Boys and Girls Club of the Valleys. Although the actual building has been completed and ready to go for nearly a year, the funding that would allow after-school programs for the youth of Scotts Valley and the San Lorenzo Valley to begin has yet to materialize.

Local law enforcement officers are racing to raise money for kids at the Ocean Speedway this Friday night.

San Lorenzo Valley High School senior Kyle Gilbert qualified for CCS last Thursday, April 16, with a score of 351 points in 11 dives.
