Valley Pop Warner wins

Could you use a little help in your life — maybe an afternoon of yard work or math tutoring for your child — but can’t really afford to pay someone for it? Do you also have something to offer, perhaps gardening know-how or plumbing expertise?

Over the years of my emergency and urgent-care career, I’ve dealt with many different injuries and illnesses commonly seen during the summer months. Here are some of my thoughts on making this a very safe summer for everyone.

August James Bradshaw was born at 2:21 a.m. Feb. 1, 2013, to Katherine Louise (Flynn) and Mark David Bradshaw of Mount Hermon. He was delivered at Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center of Santa Cruz, where he weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces.

Constipation is not exactly a dinner topic, but it is a condition that affects almost every living person at one time or another. It’s a common complaint at the doctor’s office.

Scotts Valley voted last month to spend $35 million on its public schools with a goal of maintaining the district’s excellent record of sending 97 percent of its students to college.
