Softball races heat up

Playoffs are nearing in the San Lorenzo Valley IOOF/SLV summer softball league. In the men’s league, the Flingers have proven themselves by starting the season undefeated but have dropped a few games since. SLV grad places ninth in 50-mile run

Nick Sherrell, an 18-year-old who graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School in June, finished ninth overall and first in the under-20 age group in the Headlands 50 and Marathon, a trail run in Marin County, on July 16.

Lauren Ann Cowden was born at 1:01 a.m. July 10, 2011, to Michelle Lynne (Mason) and Clyde Ernest Cowden of Scotts Valley. She weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces at Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center in Santa Cruz.
