Widely collected post-impressionist painter James Scoppettone and his daughter, Lara, an emerging artist, will exhibit together at the Fine Art Enterprises gallery, 3100 Porter St., in Soquel on Father’s Day weekend from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 20.

A popular interpretation of the Bard’s famous line is that killing the lawyers will give us a measure of satisfaction for the irritation they cause. A more noble interpretation, undoubtedly offered by a lawyer, is that the character in “Henry VI” wants to kill the lawyers so the tyrannical paymaster can plunder with impunity.

Shooting clinic in Boulder Creek set

Our newspapers are filled with stories of horrific cuts impacting schools, libraries, state parks and fire and police services. But the latest reductions to alcohol and drug treatment programs are wholly misguided.

This past weekend was the Vintner’s Festival on the west side of the Santa Cruz Mountains, and many local private wineries opened their doors to the public for barrel samples and exclusive tastings.
