Scotts Valley Rotary Club honored 42 Scotts Valley middle and high school students with a certificate of recognition for outstanding academics, visual and performing arts and community service at an awards ceremony May 8 at Scotts Valley High School.

The club also provided five college scholarships to seniors who attend Scotts Valley High or who live in Scotts Valley, and gave one college scholarship to a student attending Cabrillo College.

Scotts Valley Middle School award recipients

Scholarship recipients were selected by the Student Awards Committee led by Carrie Birkhofer, who is also president and CEO of Bay Federal Credit Union. Other committee members include Ron Sekkel, Marc Winquist and Randy Klein.

Scotts Valley Rotary has been recognizing students for over 30 years with proceeds from the Club’s endowment, grants and individual donations. The Club thanks The Ow Family, for their donations to help fund the 2023 Scholarships.

Rotary is the world’s oldest service organization (founded in 1905) and is one of the largest global humanitarian service organizations. It is dedicated to service above self. Neighbors, friends and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders and take action to create lasting change.
