The recognition ceremony is the signature project of the Scotts Valley Rotary Club, which focuses on the avenue of youth service, in alignment with the service avenues established by Rotary International.

The April 22 ceremony was coordinated with Scotts Valley Middle School and Scotts Valley High School, led by Rotarians Carrie Birkhofer and Susan Riddle. Scholarship recipients were selected by the Student Awards Committee. Committee members include: Ron Sekkel, Marc Winquist and Randy Klein.

Scotts Valley Rotary has been recognizing students for over 30 years with proceeds from the Club’s endowment, grants and individual donations. The Club thanks The Ow Family, for their donation to help fund the 2024 scholarships, and Bay Federal Credit Union for being a major sponsor.

Rotary is the world’s oldest service organization (founded in 1905) and is one of the largest global humanitarian service organizations. It is dedicated to service above self. Neighbors, friends, and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders, and take action to create lasting change.

Currently, the Scotts Valley Club meets each Monday at 12:15pm. Visit or contact Co-President Patrizia Materassi at [email protected] for more information.
