Boys volleyball bumped from playoffs
The San Lorenzo Valley boys volleyball team was defeated 3-1 by Branham High School in the first round of the Central Coast Section playoffs on Tuesday, May 12. Zak Beltz led the Cougars with 18 kills and five blocks, but after winning the second game, the Cougars could not muster anything more. SLV finishes the season 14-12-1.
Local in disc golf championship
Scotts Valley resident Nate Doss will compete in the “Steady Ed” Memorial Masters Cup at DeLaveaga Disc Golf course this weekend.
Doss is the top-ranked player in the world but has never won the Masters Cup at his home course. Nine former world champions will play in the three-day event that begins Friday, May 15, at 8 a.m. For information: www.pdga.com or www.delaveagadiscgolf.com.
SLV softball battles Aptos for league title
With one game to play, the SLV girl’s softball team could tie the Aptos Mariners for the softball league title. SLV and Aptos are 10-1 in league, each defeating the other once.
