For the second time in two weeks, the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars handed the Soquel Knights a 5-2 loss.

Through the first four innings, it looked like Soquel High’s softball team was poised to upset its second-consecutive first-place opponent. The Knights defeated then-first place Aptos High 1-0 on May 13, and were knotted up 0-0 with new league leader San Lorenzo Valley heading into the top of the fifth inning Friday, May 15.

Scotts Valley resident Nate Doss finished second in the Steady Ed Memorial Cup disc golf event at the DeLaveaga course this past weekend.

On the able legs of its sprinters and jumpers, the Scotts Valley High boys track and field team ran away with its first Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League championship Saturday, May 9.

The playoffs in the three divisions of the San Lorenzo Valley girls softball league are in full swing, and the last day of the league tournament will be Saturday, May 16, at the San Lorenzo Valley Middle School softball field.
