EDITOR,
This past Friday, May 28, our yellow Lab escaped yet again from our yard.
This time, it had near-fatal consequences. Our dog, Dora, was hit by a truck and was severely injured. If not for the compassion and quick thinking of our neighbors and friends in the Granite Creek area, Dora most likely would have bled to death in the street. Our family thanks all of you, including Animal Services and the great staff at Santa Cruz Veterinary Clinic.
We, as pet owners, understand that it is our responsibility to keep Dora safe and we failed. We hold no fault or blame for the person who hit Dora. The blame is on us as pet owners.
But again, thank all of you for your help and care of our dog, Dora.
