Transportation Commission votes for virtual meetings, for now

SANTA CRUZ—The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) on Monday unanimously approved a plan to continue with virtual meetings for the coming year, as the Omicron variant of Covid-19 spreads and governing agencies across the state make similar moves.

Agencies that are continuing to conduct their meetings in a virtual or hybrid format must vote to continue to do this every 30 days, RTC spokeswoman Shannon Munz said.

The vote does not mean that the RTC is moving to hybrid meetings just yet, it just means they can continue to conduct meetings either virtually or in a hybrid format.

“We would like to move to a hybrid format at some point, and we will continue to monitor the Covid situation to make the determination on when it would be best to start that,” she said.

The Jan. 13 meeting will be held virtually only.
