Wet playing fields haven’t dampened Scotts Valley Little League baseball at Siltanen Park — several seesaw, cliffhanger games have already been played in the league’s first week.
Majors division
Cardinals 3, SLV Phillies 0
Jake Wiechmann and A.J. Collishaw pitched a combined no-hitter for the Cardinals, striking out 15 batters in six total innings of work. Joe Kim, Owen Rockow and Reilly Merlo all hit safely for the winners.
Rangers 4, Giants 0
Sawyer Stemm lost his no-hit bid with two outs in the sixth inning when Nathan Pisciotta singled with two strikes, but he fanned 13 en route to the win.
Tim Wagner, Evan Carvalheira, Travis Lane and Dalton Locke all had hits for the Rangers, with Wagner driving in two runs.
Giants pitcher Tanner Spence recorded all eight of his outs on strikeouts, and reliever Jack Palmer fanned six.
Cardinals 14, A’s 0
The Cardinals flew around the basepaths in this four-inning contest, which was called due to darkness. Jake Wiechmann was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs, Reilly Merlo and Joe Kim had two hits each, and Jakey Kim and Cole Amodeo each had a hit and walked twice.

Cardinals 10, Brewers 9
The Cardinals rallied after a six-run Brewers’ first inning to win a game where the lead changed twice in the last frame.
The Cards’ Cole Amodeo and Drew Collishaw both went 3-for-4, with Amodeo smashing a home run and driving in three runs, while Collishaw doubled twice and drove in four. Joe Kim had three hits, Jake Wiechmann had two, and Chris Copriviza tripled and Georgia Parsons doubled.
The Brewers were paced by a 4-for-4 day from Dawson Danner, three hits from Nick Carli and two each from Trevor Alvarez, Matt Braverman and Robert Riemer.
AAA Division
White Sox 12, Phillies 8
White Sox pitchers Jack Kastner and Garrett Fisher recorded scoreless innings, and Zach Washburn worked out of a no-outs, bases-loaded jam by striking out the side. Kastner and Soren Burns were 2-for-2.
For the Phillies, Anthony Locatelli was 2-for-3 with two doubles and Jasper Stemm had a single and a double.
Marlins 11, Cubs 3
Starting pitcher Dillon Danner, a 7-year-old second-grader, held the Marlins to three runs through 2 2/3 innings before he was pulled for nearing his pitch count, and the Marlins’ bats sprang to life.
Tanner Steen was 3-for-3 with a double, and Jaya Parisi, Mitchell Gaspar and Conor Santos all had extra-base hits, while Connor Hilton drew two walks for the Marlins.
Danner and Phillip Garrison each hit safely for the Cubs, with second baseman Connor Wilson turning a nifty unassisted double play on a line-drive out.
AA Division
Volcanoes 15, Owlz 3
Three-hit days were recorded by the winners’ Anthony Petrini, Jaden Christensen, Ambrosio Torres, Dominic Papigni-Martinez and Brendan Hull. Jacob Mealiffe, Matthew Ellis and Taylor McAdams all had two hits each.
The Owlz were led by Henry Merring, who doubled and singled. The team also had singles by Ethan Okamura, Derek Tom, Matthew Stone, Canyon Jones and Lincoln Moses.
Knights 9, Rivercats 8
An eight-run sixth inning secured the win for the Knights, thanks to multi-hit games from Matthew Wu, Bryce Clark, Kyle Smith, Nico Smith, Caleb Hanson, Tyler Dawid and Jackson Twaddle.
For the Rivercats, Mason Sprague had four hits, and Cameron Kufchak, David Cornyn, Jacob Vegher, Ryan Harris and Tyler Harris all had three hits each. Tyler also drove in three of the Rivercats’ runs.
Volcanoes 16, Knights 4
Matthew Ellis led the way for the Volcanoes with four hits, followed by Dominic Papagni-Martinez, Jacob Mealiffe, Ryan Linn and Brendan Hull with three each, and Anthony Petrini, Nolan Fish, Taylor McAdams and Ambrosio Torres, who each had two hits.
Kyle Smith, Gabriel Keith, Bryce Clark and Matthew Wu had multi-hit games for the Knights.
