Scotts Valley Exchange Club
The club will host its annual golf tournament Friday, Sept. 9, at Valley Gardens Golf Course. This is the club’s main fundraiser for the year. The tournament consists of an 8 a.m. shotgun start and continental breakfast. Lunch will be served after the game.
The cost is $45. There are a few spots left. Everyone is welcome.

The club meets for a business lunch at Mint, 4652 Scotts Valley Drive, on the second Wednesday of each month. The club also meets at 5:30 the last Wednesday evening of each month at the new Scotts Valley Library, with appetizers and drinks and a local speaker. Club members encourage the public to attend. The National Exchange is 100 years old this year and has been in Scotts Valley for 40 years.
Scotts Valley Rotary Club
The club’s annual Oktoberfest will be at Malone’s Grille on Oct. 8, a Saturday. This fun-filled event will feature the famous Internationals authentic Oktoberfest band, along with beer, dancing and more.
On Sept. 17, Rotarians will work with the city on an e-waste recycling program. Residents can drop off electronic recycling at the Scotts Valley Fire Station, 7 Erba Lane, during the day.
Rotarians welcomed the Scotts Valley teachers back to school Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the club’s annual teacher appreciation breakfast. At that event, the club gave each school principal $1,000 in discretionary funds.
On Aug. 13 and 14, Rotarians enjoyed the Scotts Valley Wine and Art Festival by volunteering to pour beer at the City Beer Booth.
The Scotts Valley Rotary meets at 12:15 p.m. Mondays at the Hilton Santa Cruz-Scotts Valley, 6001 La Madrona Drive.

Scotts Valley Host Lions Club
Scotts Valley Host Lions Club has committed for many years to maintain an adopted section of Highway 17. This month, a crew of Lion members spent a Saturday morning cleaning the roadway. Club members assisted the Chamber of Commerce by manning a booth at the annual Art and Wine Festival. Twice a month, the Lions Club serves lunch at the senior center. Some members recently attended an all-day Leadership Training Seminar to improve their personal and professional skills.
The annual golf tournament will be Sept. 16, a Friday, at Boulder Creek Golf Course, 16901 Big Basin Way.
Lions Club membership is open to all adults interested in serving their community. It meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month and at 7 a.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Scotts Valley Senior Center, 370 Kings Village Road.

Santa Cruz Moose Lodge No. 545
The Legion District Picnic was at the Moose Lodge on Saturday, Aug. 20. Some members started the day off with a friendly game of golf. Members and their families later enjoyed a day of fun, games and a tri-tip barbecue.
Labor Day will be celebrated Sept. 5 with a chicken and ribs barbecue picnic.
The Moose Lodge sponsors the Scotts Valley Little League T-ball team, Express, and also a Scotts Valley soccer team. The lodge also supports the Felton 4-H Club, Meals-on-Wheels and the Adopt-A-Highway program.

Kiwanis Club of Scotts Valley:
Kiwanis hosted the second Music at Skypark concert July 31 featuring the House Rockers and opened with the Coffis Brothers. The third concert will be Sunday, Aug. 28, featuring the popular Extra-Large and opening with A La Lune.
The concert is free, with proceeds from concessions to help public school music programs.
The Kiwanis Club meets at the Hilton Santa Cruz-Scotts Valley, 6001 La Madrona Drive, with breakfast at 7 a.m. Wednesdays ($1 plus individual tabs).
