Scotts Valley Kiwanis
The fifth annual Music at Skypark summer concert series wrapped up with a huge September show. Hundreds of attendees came from all over the county to enjoy music from the Coffis Brothers and the Groove Hounds. This was the program’s most successful year to date. Through the generosity of local sponsors and vendors, more than $20,000 was raised for the music program in Scotts Valley schools. An appreciation dinner will be held November 13.
Other upcoming November club events include the ongoing Highway 17 cleanup program, set-up of the Scotts Valley Educational Foundation Christmas tree lot and the purchase of dozens of gifts for the annual Big Brothers/Big Sisters Santa Claus visit to Shadowbrook.
The club meets at 7 a.m. every Wednesday morning at Bruno’s BBQ, 230-G Mount Hermon Road in Scotts Valley. The second Wednesday of each month is an evening meeting at Bruno’s at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.
Valley Women’s Club
The Valley Women’s Club (www.valleywomensclub.com), founded in 1978, is dedicated to community action, awareness and leadership in environmental, educational, social, and political concerns which affect the health and welfare of the San Lorenzo Valley and the community; and, half its members are men. Upcoming public events include the Hammer-Marcum Award celebration, honoring the dedication of Jeri Green Oneto and Bruce Oneto, and of Tai Stills, at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 at Highlands Park Senior Center, 8500 Highway 9 in Ben Lomond. Then from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, a free Green Solutions Watershed Symposium (http://onewateronepeople.org/index.html), at Felton Community Hall, 6191 Highway 9 in Felton will inform attendees with three local nature documentaries, a Celtic harp performance, two panels of experts, displays and more. And, new Cabrillo College President Laurel Jones attend the November 12 board meeting, at 6:30 p.m. at The Satellite, 6265 Highway 9 in Felton.
