Staff of Boulder Creek Dental Office: Tara Long, Jamie Haentjens, Dr Carl White and Dr Keith Johnson.

Like the five redwood trees standing behind their office, Boulder Creek Dental Officeis still standing strong after fifty years of serving the community’s needs!
In 1965 when recent Dentistry graduates at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco, Dr. Carl White and his partner, Dr. Steven Pitzer, opened the practice in Boulder Creek, they probably did not realize that fifty years later the practice would still be going strong.
Dr. White and Dr. Pitzer have been retired for the past three years, however, Dr. Keith Johnson, also a graduate of the College of Physicians and Surgeons who joined the practice in 1996, is still running the private practice at the same location. Other dentists who worked at the practice in the early years were Harry Rasmussen, Tom Young, and Donald Connally.
If there is a gene for studying science and medicine, Dr. White and Dr. Johnson have it in spades in their families. Dr. White’s two uncles were dentists and his father was a physician. Dr. Johnson has three generations of dentists in his family tree.
This family dental office has been an integral part of the community and, when asked what their favorite thing was about being a dentist in Boulder Creek, both Dr. White and Dr. Johnson readily replied that the people in the community made it a very special place to be in business.
The most unusual patient they ever had was a German shepherd that Dr. White and a veterinarian friend operated on for a root canal. The veterinarian sedated the dog while Dr. White did the root canal and then implanted a gold tooth in his mouth!
Now that Dr. White is retired from fun events like the above, he likes to go heli-skiing, sailing, hunting (no lions), and spending time with his five grandchildren.
Dr. Johnson likes to race his old Plymouth Duster on local road tracks. You can’t miss it. Look for the one with the “Boulder Creek Dental Office” logo on the side.
A “Patient Appreciation BBQ” is happening on Saturday, October 3, between the hours of 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. outside near the redwood trees. All patients and former patients are invited to come celebrate.
