Hammer/Marcum Award winners Jim Rapoza and Hallie Greene chat during last Sunday ceremonies in Ben Lomond's Highland Park Senior Center.

Gathered at the Highlands Park Senior Center on October 25, were friends and family of the recipients of the Marcum-Hammer Award for 2015. Among the friends were sprinkled a few celebrities. Anna Eshoo led the presentation by describing the achievements of both Hallie Greene and Jim Rapoza.
Congresswoman Eshoo (18th District) presented each recipient of the award with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition. Finally, she presented the Valley Women’s Club a flag that once flew over the nation’s capital. The flag was contained in a triangular shaped wooden box with a glass top. The white stars on a blue background were visible.
Greene was honored for her involvement and support of the local community, promoting local businesses and supporting non-profit organizations. Rapoza was recognized for his work in the community.
Bill Monning, State Senator, 17th District, said of Rapoza’s work with the Probation Department, “Jim taught us that forgiveness is a pathway for troubled youth.”
To both Greene and Rapoza, Bruce McPherson presented a Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisor’s Proclamation honoring the recipients of the Hammer-Marcum Award for 2015.
Mark Stone, State Assemblymember, 29th District, and resident of ScottsValley, presented a California Legislative Assembly Resolution to Greene and to Rapoza for their service.
