Firearms are a sensitive matter. Remarkably, both sides of this topic consider safety their number one concern, even if they approach it in different ways.
On September 2nd, Scotts Valley approved two new firearms ordinances. What most don’t realize is the Ordinances were approved without the objection of the firearms retailers.
Santa Cruz Armory, a local family owned and operated store since 2011, moved into its new location in ScottsValley in December 2014. This fulfilled a business objective several years in the making of being more accessible to its customers. In CampEvers, the Armory increased security measures over what it had in Ben Lomond.
Santa Cruz Armory takes safety and security very seriously. In our CampEvers shop, we strictly adhere to all Federal and State laws, as well as the additional Federal regulations mandated by the Gun-Free School Zones Act.
Instead of resisting the efforts of the City of Scotts Valley, we look forward to working with the City Manager, Planning and Police on the Zoning Ordinance.
Education and responsible firearms ownership are critical. Irresponsible firearms owners hurt more than themselves, they hurt the entire community. This is why we partner with NorCal MedTac to offer discounts for our customers seeking firearms training or other safety options such as pepper spray and Taser, as well as first aid, medical and CPR training. This partnership also sponsors youth and Women’s Only programs in Santa CruzCounty.
Santa Cruz Armory is a proud supporter of Project ChildSafe, a nonprofit charitable organization committed to promoting firearms safety and making communities safer. Even if you are strongly opposed to firearms, we encourage you to visit the Project ChildSafe website and watch the video on Have a Conversation with Kids about Firearm Safety at www.projectchildsafe.org to help your family stay safe.
We also invite you to come in and speak to us about your concerns. We are all part of this community and primarily concerned with the same thing – safety.
