EDITOR,
George Martinez is running for the Santa Cruz County Board of Education, and he’s the guy we need to help fix public education in this county. With 22 years of educational experience at Santa Cruz City Schools as a math teacher, department chair, instructional resource teacher, program coordinator for SCCS bilingual education and founding member of the Santa Cruz County Math Academy, Martinez has a deep understanding of the complex and ongoing problems facing public education, as well as what needs to be done to solve those problems.
Martinez has dedicated most of his life to teaching kids and to educating teachers who teach kids; he knows what he’s talking about. His extensive experience, passion for public education and clear-headed thinking are just what the Santa Cruz County Board of Education needs if that board is to effectively solve the many and complex challenges it now faces and will face in coming years.
Please vote Nov. 2, and when you do, please vote for Martinez for the county board of education. The students of this county deserve the best possible educational experience we can give them, and Martinez will help ensure that we do just that.
George Wylie, trustee, San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District
