SLV water polo makes waves in first weeks of SCCAL play

The San Lorenzo Valley varsity girls’ water polo team is off to a great start with four wins in the first two weeks; each player demonstrating their commitment and endurance by playing their hardest, on a team of 18 players.

Nature Friendly: A river runs through us

I am so glad to announce that this year the San Lorenzo Valley Water District has again awarded me a grant for six “Watershed Nature Walks.” Our first guided walk will feature Daniel Williford, Henry Cowell State Park interpreter, and Laurie Egan, stewardship coordinator for the Coastal Watershed Council.

Letters and Shout-outs

Editorial: Stolen guns provide opportunity for parents

When several Scotts Valley High students were arrested on suspicion of stealing guns and an Xbox from a Scotts Valley home last week, the unusual circumstances around the case turned it into the talk of the town.

The Wine Lover: High prices can be misleading

If you wanted to, you could spend more than $100,000 on one bottle of wine. Some Thomas Jefferson collection bottles have sold for that much, and there is even a story of a waiter breaking a bottle in a restaurant that was insured for $225,000!
