Wine lover: A Chardonnay for everyone

Chardonnay is a heck of a grape. It can be made into a buttery, full-bodied, creamy fruit bomb, or it can be made into a pristine, light-bodied, mineral-driven Burgundy. The amazing thing is that both of these styles are widely accepted and mass-produced.

Your Health: High blood pressure

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, occurs when blood moves through our blood vessels at a greater than normal pressure, putting a strain on our heart. High blood pressure usually takes many years to develop and is said to affect 1 in 3 adult Americans. It is easily detected and usually easily treated.

The entrepreneur was determined to realize his goal of damming the San Lorenzo for power. But, for once, the engineer believed that Swanton’s plan was not ambitious enough.

The Mountain Gardener: Take time to enjoy the garden (and the fair)

I was on my deck recently with a friend who commented that everything smelled so good that it must be nice to just sit and enjoy the garden. I thought to myself "What? How can I just sit when there is so much to do?" That's when it hit me, why do we create gardens if not to enjoy them?  So as summer winds to an end, celebrate what you've created and just sit and enjoy the fragrance, sights and sounds of your garden.
