In what can best be described as a bitter loss Saturday, Nov. 20, the No. 3-seeded San Lorenzo Valley High football team fell 36-14 in the first round of the Central Coast Section playoffs to an impressive No. 6-seed Menlo High School.

For those inclined to be superstitious, Scotts Valley’s fumble on their first snap from center in their first game of the season last Saturday against Los Banos was an ill – but accurate – omen of the day to come as the Falcons were beaten 34-7. 

The finish line is near for four San Lorenzo Valley High School seniors who signed letters of intent to run for Division I universities in the fall.

Boundaries of the California Little League's District 39 overlap those of Santa Cruz County. There are eight Little Leagues: Santa Cruz, San Lorenzo Valley, Scotts Valley, Capitola-Soquel, Live Oak, Aptos, Watsonville-American, and Pajaro Valley. 

As high school basketball season comes to an end, ScottsValleyHigh School will be celebrating the basketball players who are graduating. The annual celebration consists of a younger player giving a speech honoring a graduating player. Following each ceremony is a basketball game, this year against Santa Cruz High School.
