Summer league is under way in the IOOF/San Lorenzo Valley adult softball league after a successful spring season. It was a happy Father’s Day for power lifter Deric Stockton, the owner of strength and fitness gym Core Strength in Scotts Valley.

On Wednesday, June 24, two Scotts Valley Little League teams advanced to their respective championship games with wins and remain undefeated in tournament play. All-Star tournaments are set to begin next week.

A host of local athletes were named to the all-Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League team for the spring sports season. Leading the list were Robbie Erlin, the SCCAL baseball player of the year; lacrosse MVP Billy Green; co-senior volleyball players of the year Ryan Morano and Zak Beltz; and softball pitcher of the year Sam Lipperd.

Scotts Valley standout pitcher Robbie Erlin will likely turn pro after his selection by the Texas Rangers with the 93rd pick in the third round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft.
