There’s a new Harley-Davidson mechanic in town.
Risha Eryavec, of Santa Cruz, opened the doors of Street Lethal Industries at 5042 Scotts Valley Drive, Ste. B, on Aug. 6 and hopes his experience with choppers and street bikes takes in the area.
“I have been working on machines for most of my life,” said Eryavec, 34. “I started working on cars when I was 11 years old.”
After high school, he got a job as a car mechanic, but he quickly learned the downfalls of the profession.
“I got sick and tired of crawling under cars that were broken,” Eryavec said.
Then he switched to working on motorcycles.
“Guys will bring you their bikes so they don’t break,” he said, pointing out the difference between maintenance and repair.
For the past 15 years, Eryavec has specialized in Harley-Davidson repair and customization. A motorcycle techie, he knows the ins and outs of Harley-Davidson computer systems, and his shop is set up with advanced programs that allow him to fine-tune the bikes.
He started his shop after working as a lead mechanic at a shop in the Silicon Valley for the past 10 years.
“It took me this long to get to the point where I can do my own work and have room for my own type of clients,” he said.
Eryavec rides a highly-tuned Harley FXR and loves the chopper, barebones culture of riding, but he also has a fondness for high-performance sport bikes.
“I’m unconventional with the types of things I do, but I’m also very personable,” he said. “I want to get to know my clients.”
