Madison Kylie Tyndall was born to Jody Leigh (Ness) and Keith Harrison Tyndall of Scotts Valley at 3:53 p.m. Feb. 2, 2013. She weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces at birth at Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center of Santa Cruz.

I’ve recently had a personal experience that punctuated the importance of background checks and that I thought worthy enough to share. The event occurred in June — the same month the now-infamous Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison. The timing is fitting.

Scotts Valley High School football players Collin Corbella, Robbie McClure and Joel Claassen earned high praise from football coaches in the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League by earning co-player of the year honors at their respective positions.

Caius Jon Eros Golling, a 4-pound 6-ounce boy, was born to Desiree Jean Ventura and Jonathan Samuel Golling of Boulder Creek at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz. He was born at 8:45 a.m. on July 29, 2014.
