Alexander Rhodes Porfido was born to Kristin Jean and Joseph Peter Porfido of Ben Lomond at 5:34 p.m. Jan. 9, 2013. He weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces when he was delivered at Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center of Santa Cruz.

Weather in December and early January was wet and cold. But rains came to a halt in mid-January with warm days and cold evenings, and the San Lorenzo River flow has decreased below 100 cubic feet per second. The weather pattern is perfect for Northern California rivers that are normally too high and too brown to fish.
