Fourteen wins. That is the total number of victories that the Scotts Valley High School varsity boys basketball team had tallied in Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play in 10 seasons since the school opened in 2001.

When a wrestler takes the mat they are expected to exhibit a certain warrior like composure that is normally reserved for the boys of our era. The problem for many wrestlers in the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League is that the girls from Scotts Valley keep beating them.

As a freshman, current Santa Cruz senior point guard Ashley Claussen was a standout varsity basketball player for the Scotts Valley High girls basketball team. Her family then moved to Santa Cruz following her freshman year and joined the Cardinals girls basketball team. 

The San Lorenzo Valley High girls soccer team finished the preseason with winning record, going 4-3-1 in eight preseason contests.
