Our Scotts Valley Bocce Club (SVBC) members won the Gold Medal at the 2020 Las Vegas National Open Three Person Tournament held February 28th through March 1st in Las Vegas, Nevada.Â
On Sunday, February 23 the Santa Cruz Mountains Surf Team, made up of surfers from San Lorenzo Valley High, Scotts Valley High, and a few other inland schools, faced off against heavily favored Santa Cruz High at their home break, Steamer Lane. While the SC Mountains team lost overall in the team-vs-team rounds (44-60), several individual team members surfed well enough to advance to quarterfinals, semifinals and, in some cases, finals in individual competition later in the day.
The Santa Cruz Mountains Surf Team, made up of surfers from San Lorenzo Valley High, Scotts Valley High, and a few schools in Santa Clara County, pulled off a powerful win (60-44) over Aptos High surfers in the fourth contest of the season put on by the Santa Cruz Scholastic Surf League at Pleasure Point on Saturday, February 8. Conditions were challenging with extreme tides and morning fog so dense that early heats had to be delayed several times, but the local surfers made the most of what was on offer.
The Scotts Valley Falcons Varsity Boys Basketball team faced off at home against the SLV Cougars in SCCAL action, Last Friday, January 31st, winning the game 72-43.
The SLVMS Boys 8th Grade Basketball team capped off another stellar season by winning their Post Season tournament at the Ed Kelly Classic at Notre Dame Middle School. Their Championship win caps a 3-year Undefeated run (6th-8th grades). Way to go Boys!!
Santa Cruz 66 Beats SLV 21 played at Santa Cruz. Sophomore Abby Lahey had six points and six rebounds for SLV. Senior Abbie Monroy contributed with four points, five rebounds, and three steals for the Cougars. Freshman Amelia Sizemore had five points. It was "Go 4 the Goal" helping kids with cancer achieve their goals. SLV hosts SV on Tuesday.
