A multigenerational contingent of martial artists from Santa Cruz Mountains Jiu-Jitsu descended upon the 19th annual U.S. Open Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament last weekend in Santa Cruz — and brought back a display case worth of medals.

The Scotts Valley Middle School cross country team put the finishing touches on a stellar Central Coast Athletic League season on Friday, Oct. 17, as four of the school’s six teams placed first in their respective categories at the 2014 Championship Meet, held at San Lorenzo Valley High School.

Bruce Barlow made a hole-in-one at Valley Gardens Golf Course on Sunday, Oct. 26, and it wasn’t the first time.

In what is shaping up to be an impressive season, the San Lorenzo Valley High School football team added another victory to its resume Saturday afternoon with a 33-8 win over the Scotts Valley High School Falcons in a showdown of league and geographic rivals in Felton.

The 7th grade girls’ basketball team at Scotts Valley Middle School triumphantly won the Central Coast Athletic League Championship last week on Oct. 15. 

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, Sheila Ralston, aretired Aptos resident, hit her very first hole-in-one at the Valley Gardens Golf Course in Scotts Valley.

Community members, city leaders, and cycling enthusiasts flocked to Skypark in Scotts Valley last Saturday to celebrate the grand opening of the long-anticipated mountain bike and BMX pump track.
