Editor’s notebook: Happily ever after

If you were wondering, Heather and I are married. We had a wonderful ceremony May 15, 2011, at Mount Hermon Christian Conference Center, and thanks to some of your trees, we had enough homemade lemonade (32 gallons!).

Commentary: Prioritize veterans in Santa Cruz County

Having just passed Memorial Day, I want to thank the community for remembering Veterans. I think it is fitting that we contemplate the high price of freedom and have a sense of awe and respect for the service members that gave their lives for our freedoms and for the veterans who have served our country. SLVWD prices its water in five tiers, from $2.36 to $4.35 per 748-gallon unit, and plans a 15 percent increase in both basic and consumption rates starting June 1.
